Open for Matching: Expanding Hamilton's Cycling Routes

How can the City create more cycling routes that are accessible and comfortable for all ages and abilities?

Project Description: In 2024, the City’s Sustainable Mobility Section worked on a project with CityLAB to refresh the City's 10 dedicated cycling routes to recommend to cyclists in Hamilton. For this new project, the Sustainable Mobility staff is interested in advancing this project by expanding the cycling route options, and focusing on other demographics including younger cyclists, tourists, and access to new locations. City Staff would like the students to undertake primary research with a focus on reaching groups that were not contacted during the previous survey, and developing ideas for the updated policy report. City Staff would also like to see a focus in redesigning the maps for a more approachable and easier to use format. Students can use examples from other cities to create designs for a pamphlet or foldout map. This project shall help to develop ways to improve the experience of the City’s cycling network.
