Open for Matching: Road Patrol Program Optimization

How can the City optimize the municipal Road Patrol Program through efficiencies while meeting the legislative standards?

Project Description: The City’s Transportation Division is responsible for the City’s Road Control Program which includes regularly inspecting municipal roads to ensure they meet legislated Minimum Maintenance Standards (MMS) that dictates strict timelines for how often different types of roads (i.e. Class 1–5) must be checked. These inspections are critical for public safety, risk management, and regulatory compliance.

The Transportation Division is considering opportunities to revamp the road inspection program to improve efficiencies. This project will help to rethink how inspection routes are designed by using modern tools and approaches. The City’s goal for the results is to build an efficient, data-driven road patrol program that ensures the City finds efficiencies while continuing to meet legislated Minimum Maintenance Standards inspection timelines.
